For a time such as this (new essay)

Liz Avatar

So, I wrote a piece about the “new” Aladdin. Yay!

But a side note: for one, it’s not new; it’s an ages-old story.

And two, I’m still having a hard time with things from the nineties being called “old.” You got it wrong. They are modern classics. 🙂

Meanwhile, carrying on despite my injured pride…

This essay is not in my usual wheelhouse, as it’s a movie review with a commentary on both Aladdin and the similarities to the Esther story (from the the Bible.)

But, it was fun! And like most of my big ideas, would not leave me alone.

So, naturally I pitched it throwing caution to the wind, and they said yes! Such a fun, interesting challenge to write. And timely, I think.

Anyways.

So, all that to say this: hope you enjoy it. Find it here: http://bit.ly/atimesuchasthis

A byline and a messy desk. Thankful for both.
